Join the fun at the Children's Discovery Zone! The Children's Discovery Zone offers a “miniature children's museum” located within the Elkhorn Valley Museum and Research Center. This innovative addition to the museum consists of hands-on activity areas, each with a separate and unique focus, but all designed to give children the opportunity to learn by doing and exploring. The Discovery Zone is designed specifically for children ages two to eleven and their families. Creation Station – an arts and crafts area. Grocery Store - an interactive child size grocery store. Complete with carts, groceries, and a cash register. Johnny Carson Performing Arts Stage & Puppet Theater - The stage, microphone, costumes, puppets, and props give every child the chance to be a star! Kid Karaoke - This sound booth has many DVD's for singing fun! Other Exciting Things – Included in the Children's Discovery Zone is a model train that runs the perimeter of the room, a toy train table complete with a full-size railroad crossing sign with flashing lights and ringing bells, a lego table, an aquarium, a 4 foot pin board to make a 3 dimensional impression, a wavy mirror, a life-size dinosaur skeleton peeking out above a cave for children to crawl through to the Creation Station, and much more! Rotating Exhibits – Additional exhibits are updated and changed regularly to allow children to experience and learn new things with every visit to the museum. Special Programming - Special programming will be scheduled throughout the year. This might include special events or workshops on specific topics of interest to children.
